FEATHERSTON HIGHWAY BOARD.
The Board met on Saturday last. Present—Messrs J, Donald (Chairman), Jackson, Matthews, Martin, McDiragal, unißiddiford. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, The. Treasurer's report showed a credit balance of 12s Ed.' . The following accounts were passed for payment :—Ulsen i'35,2s 6d; Paymaster 110 ss; Wolters £6 6s; Skeet £sl9s fid; Neilson £8 8s; Hunter £l7s; Tomlinßon £sl6s 6d; Burgess 160; Kain 15 ;D. Dick £ls; Miscellaneous £2 9s 9d. Inward correspondence.— From T. Ward, asking that the gravel pit at Moriaon'a Bush road be looked at. From Colonial Secretary asking the attention of the board to the boundary. FromE. Buckevidue asking for time re payment of rent. Fron D. Dick asking for progress payment on his contract. Outward correspondent read from the letter book:—Resolved.—That the gravel pit at Morison's Bush Rnad would manifestly interfere with the repairs of the road, therefore Mr' Ward's request cannot he agreed to. Resolved—That the Board does not wish to interfere in any way with the proceedings which may have been taken by the Board's solicitor re the Waihenga Hotel, The East Coast road committee presented their report with several suggestions as to the road from Hautotara to the EastCoaßt. Resolved that the Board's engineer be instructed to- lay off a road, from Pine Bush.corner to Btoney Greek, in accordance with the' suggestion "contained in the above report, ; ' A letter wai.received from Mr Buokeridge encloaing cheque for £25, arrears of rent,;' Resolved that. Mr Buckeridao's cheque be not.accepted in payment of rent, but (hat it be forwarded to' Messrs' Beard & Gray to be dealt with. Resolved that Mr Harrison's tender for
the Waihenga Toll Gate to 29th February 1884, for the aum of il6o per- annum be accepted. Resolved that R. Hunter's tender for the Makara road at 3s 6d, and sorub cutting at 10s per chain be accepted Mr Donald asked leave to extend the oontract fur metalling on Murphy's line of 65 chainß to the contract held'by H; Burgess.—Granted.
Mr Matthews was given permission to carry out some patches of metalling -jon the "Western Lake road. j ; ' V Mr Bidwill was authorized to 'have some 20 chains of road at Lower Kahautara fasoined and sanded, and to have the drain cleared out, he paying half the cost. Resolved that Mr Beale be mitten to; informing him.that Mr Laimbeer had returned to his duties.
