STONEHENGE LODGE, U.A.O.D.

The special meeting of the above Lodgo called for the purpoie of receiving the Grand Lodge Secretary Bro Brennan was held last evening at ihe lodge room, Empire, Hotel, when a large number of brethren assembled to do honor to the visitor. Bro W. Bishop W.D.P. accompanied the Grand. Secretary who inspected tbe working of the Lodge and expressed himself greatly pleased with the manner in which the various officers fulfilled thoir duties under the able guidance of the Arch Druid (Bro B. Quick). He also said that in very few towns had he found aiich a nicely famished lodge room as that providoi by Bro Cor belt. After the inspection the Grand Secretary replied to several questions and gave instructions as to the working of the order, and after a profitably spent two hours, the Lodge was duly closed. The brethren then adjourned to the large supper room and entertained their visitors to an excellent supper, provided by Bro. Corbett, after which the usual toasts were given and responded to. The Grand Secretary, in replying to the toast of the Board of Directors, stated that about three years ago there was only one Druid's Lodge in New Zealand; now there were 3? Lodges with some 2,800 members, He had received a petition for a Lodge at Carterton, and expee'ed two or three requests for Lodges in the Auckland District He thanked tho hiothren for the kind manlier m which they had received him,, especially as they had received, such short notice of his visit. He also expressed his gratification at the fact of all the friendly societies of Masterton working together bo cordially/ \ ''• '.-»; '■•■■•■•'■ ■. ■■ The rest of the evening was spent in a very enjoyable and pleasant maimer, and the brethren separated at about 12 o'clock.
