Kennedy Macdonald & Co. hold * large and important sale of lauded properties 'when amongst the properties in tho estate of Lipman Levy will be sold part of noction 20(3, Taratnhi Plain Block, known as: now in the occupation of Dr Watts, and part of section 308 Carterton with the dwelling and boot ; -shop occupied, by Mr Peters. This auction will afford purchasers of property in Carterton an opportunity of securing bargains, as the Bale is by order of the Supreme Court, and to close estate, accounts and. therefore without reserve.
A very, pleasant concert was given last evening in St Matthew's schoolroom under the auspices.of the Masterton Football Club. The programme opened with a brilliant overture from the Maiterton String Band,.played in perfect .timo and tune, which was followed by a quartette from Messrs Stevenson, Bunny, Bish, and Moore. Mr Stevenson then gave au old favorite. "My Pretty Jane." but was scarcely in hi* usual voice, but sufficiently So to ' evoka"-loud applause,' "Dame Dnrden," another, popular piece, was skilfully rendered by Miss Nicol and Mes'-s Stovenson and Moore. Mr W. Q, Burd then read with marked success a romantic episode entitled " Amelia's Young man.;' ■ Mr, W, Lowes secured the first eneore by his spirited rendering of " The Stirrup Cup," and Mr Gant, who came after him, was equally successful in pleasing ; the.audience, Miss Nicol, who followed with ''ThoLiquid Gem,"! was loudly applauded. An excellent programme.wound up with an Orpheus glee by the quartette party, " The Poaohor;'' by Mr Moore(enthusiastically and a nautical ballad from Mr llapp, which was most successful, and which was persistently redemanded.
