SUPPOSED SUICIDE BY AN IN-' : SURANOE AGENT. Dunbdin, November 20, James RenwioSr, insurance ageut at Palmers ton South, was drowned yesterday. It is supposed to be a case of suicide. Ho leaves a wife and family in distressed circumstances. J SAVAGE ASSAULT ON A POLICEMAN. . Timaru, November 20, A man named John Green was'sentenced to twelve months''hard labor for brutally assaulting a policemau with a bottle and biting one of his fingers off. The policeman's head was terribly cut and bruised. .
SEVERE ELECTRICAL DISTURBANCES. Dunedjn, November 20. Owing to electrical disturbances sinco Saturday night the work of the Telegraph Office in Dunedin has been greatly delayed. Thorewasa constant, current of eleotricity flowing outho lines, equivalent to ten-times the strength of the batteries generally usod. Somo of the batteries had to bo disconnected altogether, and messages were sent without the use of the battery at all, ut feat never before done in the annals of tho New Zealand tolegraph.
