Sir Garnet Wolseley arrived in London to-day and Mr Gladstone, the Duke of Cambridge, Earl Granville, and a distinguished company met him ashe alighted from the train, and as he drove sway from the station he received a great ovation from a large crowd whicn had assembled, Further heavy rain has fallen over England and fresh floods have boon caused. The Thames valley is non inundated, and Berious distraction of property has resulted. An amendment to the closure proposals lias been moved by Mr (iibson in the Honso of Commons demanding that a two-thirds majority should be required to adopt the closure amendment. This will test the feeling of the House on the whole question, and a division on Mr Gibson's motion is fixed for Thursday next. Vienna, October 28. Very heavy storms of rain have been experienced in South-east Austria, and alavraing floods have resulted in t!ie Tyrol and the provinces of Cariuthia.
