A LITTLE HISTORY.

['Ffisco Correspondent of the Auckland Herald.] Strange things happen in the world every day, and possibly the little story I am about to tell is as peculiar as most. In fad, th'o American wonders seem to heat all others into fits, and are constantly happening.,™ in no other country under the sun, A few days ago an old man of seventy was introduced to his son nf fifty for the first lime. The old gentleman was in his youth a rover, and Boding his delight in a oirous went off with a company, leaving his young wife behind him. Shortly after his departure a boy was horn, and, as the father never returned, or was heard of, he knew nothing of his son. • After some years the mother of tfee boy died, which fact the father must have found out for he married again, and settled down to business, becoming in time the happy'.parenl of only twenty-four other sons and daughters outside the first child. Quite lately a lady relative died in his nativo town, and fheold man coming to the funeral was recognised by an old acquaintance... After the funeral, the neighbor took the old man asiqe, and begged permission to introduce him to his Bon. A scene of astonishment followed, and the old man of seventy with' his middle aged son of fifty sat side by side for hours, rejqiclng'in their newrfound happiness, while the company from the funeral stood by with gaping mouths, takirig in the situation. The two' had lived fpr 2& years so near each other that a; two hours' trip on the railway would have 'brought them tojjet!)e|;, Truly, ;wqnders will never pease.
