A meeting of the Board was held at Term! on Saturday last. Present-Messrs Mackay (chairman), Langdon, Bellies, ( Miller, and Williams. ;,;'" The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.-; The Treasurer reported balance available for future expenditure £Bl3 9s Bd. The: wages bills were read and passed for payiiierit. and the report of the Olork of Worltß read and considered. «r correspondence was then ilr R, S. Hawkins asking 1 £8 to expend on Upper his property.' From same rd tof grant a sum equal to on his property, and Fair ituteon UpperTaueru road at District jfrom J. Murray ,s\king for :an advance on works on T]fpper Taueni; from' same offering to make about 35 chn'ins 6f sidecutting on Mr Hood's run on Upper T.iueru Liue for 25s 6d per chain ; from Mr Bremnor re Blairlogie road repairs; from Mr O'Kane re extras on Pakowai contract f from Mr Rogers requesting the Board to metal a portion of road at Cashpoint; From Messrs' Maunsell re land taken for road widening;; from Telegraph Department re culvert at Tinui; from Mr Napier re bridge at Sandy Creek; from settlers in Wharearaa.Tenui, Wiukatuki, and Castle Point asking the Board to abolish the toll gate atTinni; from Langdon Bros, aaking permission to maintain three gates on the road in their property. The following resolutions were thon passed;~Th'af tho Clerk of-Works be directed to request Mr Ashcroft to connect the Whakarna road with Mangapakeha road, and that the necessary culverts and repairs be executed on the Uriti line on Mr. Elder's property. That £5 be expended in putting in 2 culverts and other repairs on Tinui Valley line. That the Polioe Department in Wellington he written to with a view of obtaining tho services of Constable Darby as Ranger. That the sum of i 8 bo granted for work near Mr Hawkin'a Upper Taueru road, That of Mr J. Murray for work on Upper Taueru line of rnnd at 25s 6d per chain be accoptcd, subject toapprotal of the Masterton Highway Board. That Messrs Langdon's application be agreed to. That the sum of L2 bo granted to Mr O'Kane for extras on Pakowai contract. That the Clerk of works be instructed to lay off the line of road from Tinui valley to the Packspur, in order for Mr Asbcroft to survey it. That after subscriptions have been guaianteed, the Clerk of works call for tenders for re-erec-tion of Waitawhiti bridge, and iu conjunction with the warden, accept same if deemed reasonable. That the sum of L2 be paid to Messrs Maunsell for land taken for road, That the Board will metal from Telegraph office to landing store if settlers interested will subscribe L 5 towards cost, lhat the petition of Messrs' Schoßeld and others ro Tinui toll gate be referred to the Council, and that this Board cannot recommend the gate being abolished. That fresh tenders be called for lease of toll gate, That tenders bo called for metalling on Castlepoint road. That Burgess and Sou be requested to complete their contract at Jfce Mangiipakeba. Nicholls junior, building whare, L 27 2s Gd; Thomas Stilborn, timber, L6l3s; J, Murray, advance on contract, L 25 ; D. O'Kane, contract Pakowai, L2412s Gd; D. O'Kane, extras, L2; Rent L2; J. Schofield, cartage, L3lßs; Johnston & Co., tools, LI 8s; Charles Peach, willows arid cartage, L 4; R. Hughes, repairs, L2 7s Gd. The next meeting was fixed for Saturday the 14th October,
