We are pleased to record that last 'even-. ing's meeting in aid of the persecuted! Jews was a decided success, Much honor' i'b due to .tbe ministers of religion who came forward on this occasion arid so ably advocated the cause of humanity, We are not quite sure that in the last resolution passed by the meeting they were not saddled with more than their fair share of the burthen.of raising funds. However, they have shewn themselves to be the willing horses, and no doubt the manner in which they have come to the front on this occasion will commend them to the public We shall be glad to receive and acknowledge at this office any subscriptions whioh may be left or forwarded in aid of the fund,
