MASTERTON HOSPITAL.

The annual meeting of the Mnstorton Hospital was held yesterday. Present— Messrs J, V. Smith (in tho chair), Boddingtow, Perry, Paytou, Bennett, and 11. R. Beetham, Tho Secretary read the following ItEPORT. ■ ' The Masterton Hospital (Jommittee in submitting their usual annual report to the subscribers bey to call, their attention to the fact, that although the receipts-of tho past financial year, have been £165 12s 7d less than on the previous year, the statement nf assets and liabilities show 'a decided increase in value to be placed to the credit of the institution.

On the 30th of June 1881, the- assets were calculated at £IOO7 4s sd, and the liabilities at £69 3s 93. This year the assets have increased to £164712s 3d, while the liabilities only amount to £43 6s Bd, There are other amounts out'standing, which may be counted reliable, amounting to ovor £2O. '

Since tho last annual mooting a wash house has been built, and a few needful improvements added. The premises generally have been kept in repair, and when the work of repainting, which has already been authorised) is .completed/ there,will remain.little or nothing to'be done in connection, with the buildings!';, During the past year the : committee have had reason to be satisfied with tv tn'e manner in which Dr Hoskihg; the medical officer, Mr 0. J. Freetli,thei seoretaryy and Mr W. Bulpit, the custodian' .have, discharged their respective duties.; In. the latter case; ■ they have made: a speoi'al recognition of them by votiug abonusaa an addition to his salary,. ■•■;".
