' • Cr McGregor said the Council had received a vot) of money for the Mauricevilla West road, and had spent it there, but the people who now. petitioned lived; beyond where their funds had-carried'the road. WAIOHISE PROTECTIVE WOKS. It was reported that the W; inliinc River Board were quite willing, to undertake the work, but they could not aubai diae the amount voted by the Council. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Board requesting them to proceed with the work as rapidly as possible. TENDERS. ; The following-tenders were opened: for; the bridge at Featherston, W. Benton, 1105 (accepted) } M, B. Cave, £lO7 ;<L Eeese, £lo6los ;.W. B, ltountree,.£ls3. WAIOBINE BRIDOE APPROACH??.'' V;. I The approaches to the new bridge were ordered to be proceeded with :aa rapidly as possible. ; FINANCE COMMITTEE. The committee recommended for payment accounts amounting to £842 19s sd. —Adopted. ; \" ■ LAKE FERRY, j Cr Russell read a letter from the ferryman, who complained that when the lake was closed, people wont by without paying the half-fee which he usually demanded in' that case. He pointed out this was a great hardship, and asked the Council to make the fees the same when the lake was closed as when It was open. He thought it very necessary that this should be done and he save noticu of motion on the subject. The Council then adjourned. ,
