Mr Sheehan statos that the confession of Hiroki, as published in to-day's paners, to the effect tliat ho had warned § Brown and Mr Sheehan not to put n the Momakahi Block, is absountmn, and that he never saw until after tho murder, when he was a fugitive at Parihaka. Mr Sheehan hold sevoral large mootiugs .with native ownors of the block at settlements in the vicinity, and the only points .raised by the native owners was a claim against the survey party for a sum of money for alleged improper conduct, and the question of area and position of reserves—both of which questions were disposed of before the land was sold. THEKAITANGATA RELIEF FUND Dunedin, this day, Judjje Gillies, as Secretary to the Kaitangata Belief Fund writes:—" The statement in the Houso relative lo the fund management aro utterly incorrect, not a penny has gone to any hut the jufferors. The character of tho fund has never altered, and they cordially invito investigation.
