A gentleman of keen observation, noticing that it took but a short period of whiskey drinking to subjugate man, was struok with the idea that ■ under its exhilarating influence poultry would aucoumb. No sooner had the idea alruok him than he put it in praotice-on his neighbors' fowls. The"poison" was administered through the medium of soaked wheat. It was as suooessful ut r could be anticipated, ? /Wr " ft ? r - its "W I>7 the deluded poultry they exhibited a wiety of attitudes. that were' comical enough, though derogatory to "their dignity. After exhibiting every phase of intonitation the deprived creatures lay down, and unfortunately for their owners" died. The idea is, that if whiskey-soaked pun-will kill poultry, ituhould certainly ■" outotf sparraws, green linnets,-etc, in ; v the bloom of their youth,- We may -mention that by whatever means the end is accomplished, a ijreat majority of farmers are determined, that;they will not submit tt the annually mrfaz ravages of small birds.
