A man named John Kitto, of Miller's Flat, went to the residence of his son-in-law, Joseph Augustus Roggiero, •about 7 o'clock last night, and, without imy warning, shot through the window with a rifle at Roggiero, who was sitting by the fire,, The screams of Rnggiero's wifo attracted her brother-in-law, v/ho ha>> - to pass Kitto's house. Kitto shot him n .-n, the ball entering at the wrist and coming out at the elbow. Roggiero died a short lime afterwards. Kitto, who was in tho Lunatio Asylum some time ago, came to Roxburgh and gave himself up to the police, The brother-in-law, who was shot through the arm, was named Peter Klogh. He blbo was a son-in-law of Kitto. ■
Later. Kitto is now in the lock-up at this place. He is evidently suffering from religious mania. When told that his son-in-law was dead, he replied " Praise be to God." It is just now reported that unfavorable symptons are showing in the wounded man Klogh, COSTLY ELECTION PETITION. Auoklind, this day. A vote of confidence was recorded, ANOTHER SUICIDE AT NELSON. Nbison, May 29. It appears that John Midgley, committed suicide on Saturday. The evidence of the constable who made inspection was that the gun was loaded with a bullet, and that the sanie entered deoeased's skull near the eye. A letter was found, addressed by deceased to his father, Btating —" lam hearfick of this world, and cannot work or rest, so good-bye." Decesed also sent a message and enclosed a second lettei to a young lady. HIRORITO BE HANGED. The Government , have decided not to interfere in carrying out the law in Hiroki's case.
