WAIRARAPA PASTORAL SOCIETY.

■ A tneeting of the Show Committee of thfl Wairara'paand.Enst Coast Pastoral and Agricultural Society was held at the Institute, Carterton, on' Saturday afternoon. Present—Messrs W.O. Buchanan (President), Booth (Treasurer), J. Strang, A. Matthews, Braithwaite, Ki&berley, J, b, Bidwill, Stuckey, J. Reynolds, N. Grace! H. MoMaster, and '&. It. Armstrong. The Secretary reported that -he had received from the Mnsterton Park Trustees, the balance brdugkt forward on' the last annual, statement; of accounts amounting to £6l4s 3d. The minutes of. the Inst meeting of the general meeting were read for the information of the members present. The President stated that as one of the committee appointed to inquire into their finances he had to inform the meeting that nothing had been done. The business of the meeting would therefore be to revise the catalogue of the show and as the question of pure-bred shorthorned cattle whs to be considered at the extraordinary meeting, he thought it would be as woll for them to pass over the cattle classes at present. They would also have to take into consideration the allotting of tho Society and private prizes and he thought the sooner they got offers of the latter the better, bb the success of the ensuuig show would, he felt assured, depend asit had in the past, on the latter. They would also have to; consider the date on which the show should be held on which he believed the Secretary of the Jockey Club wished to say something to them. The following resolutions and' alterations to last year's programme'wi-rc then passed and made, the meeting terminating shortly before five o'clock : i That to the heading Rules and Regulations be added the words" conditions of entry and judging"; thifc it be an instruction to tho judges to pass over any mare apparently in foal, in consequence of having been served the previous seison in' sections 5,7,15,17,25, and 43 ; that it be left to the discretion of the judges to decide whether the mure waß in foal in sections 6,16, 26, and 44 ; that un additional class be added between sections I 32and33"the best draught gelding] in regular work, any age." The question of the entile classes was left until after the extraordinary meeting, at which it was also decided to brin» forward the question of introducing a class for Ayrshire cattle. That after the word animals at the end of the second paragraph ot instructions to judges the following words he added:—" And that the Stewards shall in all cas3S acquaint the judges with the date of last shearing." It was further resolved that separate sectioni should be added to tho programmo for Leicester j that boih in breetliflg and fat classes tho Canterbury plan be adopted of substituting "age" for "tooth"; that an additional section be added betwe'en 37 and 38 "10 fat welhers any breed under 18 months." In sections 38 and 39 the/ords" 4<tooth or under" and '• 6-tootlror under" were directed to be omitted, and the words "under 30 months" and "under 42 months" respectively, directed to Be in serted in their places, Sections 41 and 42 with foot note were struck out. • The show day was fixed for the Ist November next. After the rule" no owner will be permitted to be in charge of stock during the judging," the following words were udded, " except in the case of horses in saddle or harness." Two classes were added to pigs. " Boar any breed,"" sow any breed." The words" not less than
