A TRUE BILL.

Ik is positively sickening, though, to think, what pain and discomfort a frail girl or woman will undorpo at tho bidin" of the anonymous tyrant who "sets" tho fashions. From the solo of her foot to the crown of her head cho is in fact a self torturer. Her hoots pinch her toes till th' pain is excruciating; her garters are so i jiitly clasped that they too often prodik'o varicose veins; her corset is so tightly heed that intonse discomfort ensues, the vital organß being actually oramped and pushed out of place; the skin of her chest is anoi \l with preparations which draw and ,/ghlon it; !< r ears are sore by reason of their piercing; her nose, possibly, aches from the application of the little machine aforementioned ; her cheeks are irritated by the deleterious powders, and unguents pat upon them; her eye lids smart from the needle of t| th« artificial lashmaker; her hair is so closely twisted that the scalp is too tender to touch; and oven her fingers are half the . time uumben or "pinand-neodley," thanks to over small gloves in which she compresses her hands. We say nothing of the mconronionce and discomfort of the high-heeled boot, the tightly drawn-back dress, of the heavy mass of furs and velvet which has to bo carried about, the starched and irritating ruffs round the neck, the dragging trains, and all the other minor annoyances of-La Mode.
