After the members were sworn in jesterday the Hon Major Atkinson proposed and Mr Macandrbw seconded Sir Maurick O'Roeke as speaker, both speaking in eulogistic terms of his past services. Mr LEVAsriH, as a matter of duty to his' constituents, felt bound to refer to Sir MiDBioE-O'RoBKE's c»nduot on the Representation Bililastseßsion, which he strongly condemned as a serious error of judgment. Si- Macrioe O'Eobke, in submitting himself to the will of the House, referred to his 21 years; experience, there, and expressed the hope that if elected time as speaksr he would meet wife ihe same support as heretofore. He did not think the present was the time to. vindicate his con duct as attacked by Mr Levastan. He expressed regret at the absence from the House of Mr Seymour, to whose services as' Chairman of Committees! lie referred in complimentary torms. , Sir Maubice' O'Kobkb was then conducted to the ch&ir by his proposer ! and seconder.
