A Sad Story.—A little Christmas story comes from Washington, and one which should servo as a warning against setting tho intoxicating howl beforo tho young and inoxporienccd. _ A girl of moro than ordinary beauty and intelligence, the daughter of people in good circumstances, made a Christmas call upon a family with whom slio was well acquainted. Innocently onongh tliey presented her at lunch with egg-nog, and tho poor girl unwittingly drank too much of it, When sho left the house sho was perfectly sober, hut soon after starting the full effect of the liquor came upon her, and she becamovery much intoxicated. In this condition slio wandered into tho Smithsonian grounds, whore some boys found her and attempted to rob Iter of her jewellery, The police fortunately camo to her rescue, and, after ascertaining who sho was, restored her to her parents. The young lady had a narrow escape, and at best may never recover from her own indiscrotion and the thoughtlessness of her hosts,
