Tho habit of gentlemen sitting over their wine at dinner was first introduced' by Margaret Atheling, the Saxon Queen of Scotland, who hired her Scotch gentlemen with an extra cup o( wine to stay at table for the chaplain's prayers. A paper watch is being exhibited by a Dresden watohmaker. The parts are so made as to permit of the.movement being fully seen. A French paper watch has been taken for a model.
