FEATHERSTON HIGHWAY BOARD.

The usual monthly meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last. Pre-Bent-Mesars James Donald (chairman), H. H. Jackson, A. Matthews, E. Riddiford, D. McDougall, and W. E. Bidwill. Ihe minutes tf the previous meeting were road and confirmed. The following correspondence was read :—From Mr Brodensen, complaining of havsh treatment by the ranger; from 0. Tait, asking for bridle track up the Tauherenikau Gully. Brodensen's letter was ordered to stand over till next month, I'ait's application was granted, the matter to bo left in the hands nf Mr Jackson, the Warden Mr Riddiford stated that he and the Board's engineer had agreed to the most auitahle route for the Awhea road, and asked that instructions be given to push on with the construction of the road without delay, He, however, made it a. condition that as the road passes through his property, no liability as to fencing the road should ever he preferred against him. He also asked that whore the road crosses any of his fences the Board erect the necessary gates.

The Board agreed to Mr Riddiford's proposal.

Mr Donald having left the meeting on account of private business, Mr Matthews was voted to the chair pro tern. The following tenders were then received for metalling part of Heifer Stalion Eoad:—Ohria. Tait, £2 7s per ohaln; W. Bnckridge, f 119s do. The tender of Mr Bucltridge waß accepted. Mr Jackson aßked that tenders be called for about 14 chains of metalling on Mo'roa road, in front of Barrett's section; also ■metalling about 20 chains near Mitchell's gate, on the Moroa road, and 10 chains metalling near Hodge's. He also wished to have tho fordway at the Tauherenikau repaired by day work, and referred to tho cleaning out of the ditch on Morrison's Bush road, which had recently been done at the expense of the Board.

Mr Jackson was instructed to get the amount, viz,, £7 4s, refundad by the owners of property froiitjqg the djtcli in proportion to the respective frontage, and, failing satisfactory arrangements, that proceedings be taken without delay. Mr Bidwill offered to give the metal for gravelling some portion of the Kahautarn road, provided the Board fenced off the pit. Agreed to, Permission was given to Mv Bidwill to erect a letter receiving box on the Lower Valley road, n6ar the Waihenga cutting. The meeting then adjourned.
