ASSASSINATION OP THE NEW
SECRETARY AND UNDER SEORETABY FOR IRELAND. - MORE RIOTING, THE MOB FIRED UPON BY THE POLICE. London, May 5. Intelligence ia to hand from Dublin of the assassination of the new Irish Secretary and the Under-Secretary. The particulars at present received state that Lord Frederick Cavendish and Mr Thomas Haviland Bourke (the Under Secretary) were walking through Phoenix Parkin Dublin, when they were mysteriously stabbed to death in a horrible manner, No further partionlan have as yet tianspired, and so far as is known no arrests have been made of the perpetrator* of the outrage. Serious disturbances occurred to-day at Ballina, in Ireland, in consequence of rejoicings which were taking place over the release of the Irish members, The police were called out to disperse the gathering, when the mob stoned the police, and the latter fired and wounded seven of the rioters.
