L.t;ji The knotting apparatus employed by Samuelson and Co,, is suoh that if is impossible for the knot to be missed, and its operation so perfect that it will not fail to tie the bands securely. The report of a trial, under the auspices of the Otago A. and P. Association, at Ahbotsford, Otago, on 17th February last, says " This machine turned out its work in a very superior manner. The sheaves wero well balanced, securely tied, and delivered with perfect regularity, "the cut was as stiaight as an arrow's flight, and the machine appeared tj travel over the ground remark, ably easy, so that a good rate of speed was maintained. A hempen cord was used for tying The spectators wero extremely well pleased with this machine. To all appearance in would have finished its plot first, or, at any rate, about the same time as the McCormack, but for an accident which occurred when only about twoiounds had tobe made. When going through a little gully the'swayboard,' or 'vibrator,'as some t£m it, broke, and the machine was helplessly stuck up, so far as the competition was concerned."
