Tlio worthy clergyman ate his dinner quietly; apparently without observing the gibes nndsneers of his neighbors. Ono of thorn at last, in despair at his forbcarauco, said to him: "Well, I wondor at your patience! Havo you not heard all that has beon said against you?" "Oh, yes, but lam used to it.,' Do you'know who lam ?" ',' No, sir," V Woll, I will inform you, I am chaplain of a lunatic asylum; such remarks have no oftect on me."..'■■.■;.,.•■'

Anti-fat DiET.-Dr, George Johnston, in tho Practitioner, proposes the following ns an anti-fat diet: May oat-Loanmuttdnfanilbeef, veal and lamb, soups not.tliickened, beef tea and broth, .poultry, gamo, fish and eggs, broad in moderation, grebusi'cresses, lcttuco/etc,, green peas, cabbage, cauliflower, onions, fresh fruit without sugar; May not cat—l'nt- meat, baCon or ham, butter, cream, sugar, potatoes, carrots, parsnips, rice,'sago, tapioca, macaroni, custard, pastry and puddings, sweet cakes. May driak—tOßi'Cofleo,- cocoa from nibs, with milk but no sugar, dry winos in moderation, brandy, whisky nud gin in modoration without sugar, light bitter beor, soda soltzcr water,'. May not drink-Milk, except sparingly, portor and stout, sweet ales, sweet wines.. As a rule alcoholic liquors should be taken sparingly and novor without food.
