G. Cox, re his case in the R.M. As the usual three days' notice of a deputation had not been given, it was rules that no notice could be taken of the matter.—The Treasurer's report was read, which showed that there was a credit balance in the bank at £l3llßs 6d, and. that summonses had been taken out against a number of defaulters, and that others would probably follow. The, total arrears of rates for the past three years amount to £282 15s, £l2l 3s 2d being borough rates, and £llll2s River Board rates.—Accounts amounting to £3O IBs were passed for payment.-A considerable discussion ensued when the printingaccounts were brought forward, it being considered unfair of the Clerk of the Licensing Courts to put the Borough to the expense of advertising the meetings of committee : in ' Masterfop papers, whereas the Masterton'meetjngs were not advertised in the Greytown papers. The whole thing savoured of partiality, and the Councillors thought the Clerk had exceeded his duty in respect to the advertising,—lt was resolved on the motion Im. a ' g k' seccitided by Cr Thompson—"hat the accounts, re Licensing Act, for advertising bp refefrefl back to the Chairnian of the Licensing Committee, calling Mrattention to the of advertising outside the 'district for local meetings.—-The Clerk was instructed to get a oopy of the Impounding Act,—The balanoe sheet for the year, and half-year, and ordered to be printed,—lt was resolved—That the Clerk give 21 hours' notice of any meeting in connection with : the Council,—The meeting then adjourned. ; '
