THE UNHAPPY INSTITUTE.
To the Editor. Sir,—There is ono phaHe in the recent emotion of oominitteemen for the Institute which appears to hare been either overlooked, or ignored by the press, I refer to the re-election of the old Library Trustees by the publio to servo aa committeemen for tho ensuing year, This I submit is tantamount to a publio vote of aporoval of, or concurrence in, the action of the late committee, It was confidently stated that owing to their action in letting the npper room for private dance parties, the old Trustees had not a shadow of a chance of re-election, but what was the result ! The people emphatically ap. proved that very action condemned by the insignificant clique, and returned the old members by overwhelming majorities. I hope therefore that the. policy of tho old Trustees so hoartily approved by the ratepayers, with regard to the lottiug of the upper room for social reunions, will not be reversed, and that the public will not be debarred from these pleasant parties during the coming winter. The present Institute committee must remember thaMhey havo voluntarily accepted the position af servants to carry out the wishes of the publio, and after the result of the late election there, cannot be & shadow of doubt as to the public feeling on the question of letting the upper room for danee parties. lam, &e., Economy,
