Wellington, Tuesday 11th. George Thomas reports:—Flour, colonial, £ll to £1110s; oats, 3s 9d to 3s lOd, on rising market; fowls' wheat, 4s Gd, scarce; maize,(is; pollard, £slss to £6los, with ready sale; potatoes, #3 10s; bran, £5; bacon, BJd; ham, lOd •; cheese, fijd to fid; butter, 8d; eggs, Is 9d; fowls, 3a Gd j geese, 3s to 3s Gd each ; pears, half-cases, 3s, cases, 4s to 6s j quinces, half-cases 2s fid, cases os; eating apples, half-cases 3s. cases 5s to Gs; cooking do, 2s Gd to ss. Therowas not a great domand forfruit atthe sale on Saturday, and prices show a loss on invoice rates -in fact, the market for the past weak seems quite stagnated, CnniSTcnuitcn, Saturday. Wheat-Good quality tuscan wheat in lines suitablo for shipment is worth from 4s 7d to is 9d per bushel f.o.b. Hunter'a white, velvet, chaff and pearl 4s Gd to 4s 8d f.0.b.; exceptionally good tuscan fit for seed is worth Id per bushel over the highest quotation; second quality wheat is worth from 4s id to 4s 6d f.0.b,; broken and chick wheat from 2s 6d to 3s 6d per bushel delivered <n Chtistchurch.
Oats—The demand is still well sustained!; good milling quality realise up to 3s 3d; fair feed are saleable at 3s to 3s Id at Christchurch. Barley—Malting barley, the demand only limited; for really piime up to 4s Gd can be obtained; second quality parcels not enquired for; feed, owing to advauce in the price of oats, meets witn ready salo at 2a 9d to 3«. Grass seed is not nearly bo firm; the want of rain appears to have affected the sale, and had a depressing effect upon buy srs. Speculators, who are buying to hold for spring sowing, are the only persons who are now operating in this market, Quotations for well dressed parcels are 5s Gd. Inferior as per sample. • Cocksfoot—4Jd to 4} per lb. Demand fairly good.
