True bills wero found against Robert Hiokling for.ass Milt with intent, J. 0, Donofhue for stealing from the person, and Jules Crosar Huysman for uttering forged iOheques. No bills were found against John Smith for assault with intent, and 9amea Anderson for receiving stolen goods. :■'' ■

' ''k man named Douglas was arrested yesterday for wounding a man named John Moran on the head with a delf candlestick Douglas quarrelled with his wife, and Moran recoived a blow whioh was intended for her. An artery on the head was severed, and Moran lost about a gallon of blood, • Arow concerning nationality occurred on Saturday night between the seamen of .the barquo Thames and the ship Alcestis, lying at the Queen-st Wharf. When the police arrived, two of the Alcestis 1 orew ha'd "axes:in their hands but threw them i»way on seeing tho police. A general fight'ensued, during whioh four shots were fired but no harm done. The men retired to their respective ships and threw stones and other missiles. The riot was quelled on the arrival of re-inforcements of police. Atkinson and Bryoe left for Wellington this morning.
