Jno. Gilpin was committed for trial today lor assulting the man Clements, who was so brutally knocked about ono night a few weeks ago. From Clements evidence the case seemed to be one ot pure wanton assault. He was walking along when four men passed him, and one called out "I want you." Thinking he wanted a match or something of that sort, Clements turned back and received a heavy blow in the face. Several of the others also fell upon him, and the result was that he had been in the doctor's hands ever since-some five weeks.
