Very little'interest was manifested in the late licensing'elections and still less may be expected to be taken in the solemn farce yet. to be played out of voting for or against the increase of licenses in each district. We have got into a, bad habit in jfew Zealand of throwing responsibility off th'o. cental legislature on to. the . people. have all sorts of options given'to them, and being leas able to decide than their representatives Syhat is right and expedient, they have .in .a great measure to chance the interests which are committed to their charge.
