The gas committee of the Masterton Borough Council has not been altogether inactive since its appointment, although it..has procrastinated its investigation to a certain extent, and is supposed by some to have sunk into a somnolent condition, We understand that there is a probability of it bringing up a report at the next meeting of the Borough Council. Prior to this, however, it has to ascertain the probable consumption of gas by Masterton residents, and wo believe that. in. the course of the ,pj'fiseflt^week; & canvas will be miMi",witl£ this- objoct, Tho committee hajs obtained from the Borough of Ashburton statistics on which it will be able to base an authoritative report.
