The Dunedin Times snys that the Southern Cross Petroleum Co. have no valid lepse of the country where the petroleum is found, not the necessary signatures having been am} the Government having at first not half com ; pleted tho lease over tho land, The Melbourne shareholders were represented by Messrs McMahon, Jack, and Keins, who are disgusted to find that the native tille has never been extinguished, and the workmen have been driven off the ground by native chiefs. The conduct of the Gisborne Directors is strongly animadverted on, and will probably be the groundforlegal proceedings, McMahon and Jack return to Melbourne by Rotojpahanato consult Melbourne as to further proceedings.
