[To the Editor of tho Daily,| Sie,—l see a correspondent in Saturday's issue trying to do a man who is striying to earn.a livelihood for himself and family, a seridoß injury by exaggerated statements concerning his new slaughterhouse on the Upper Plain road. I should imagine that your correspondent is either some jealous trade rival (afraid of a little healthy competition) or a gentleman who has been disappointed of obtaining two or three month's oheap meat, by tho refusal of tho proprietor of the aforesaid slaughter house to allow him to get into hia books. But whoever he is, his statement is devoid of all truth. My business takes tne to the Uppir Plain nearly every day, and I am sure that if it were not for seeing a few sheepskins hanging on the fence, a passer-by would not know that there was a slaughter house there at all, I may stato in conclusion that I have no psrsonal objeots to serve in answering "Proßono's" letter, only the objection to see a man " jumped mi "by interested parties just as be his making a start for bimseli.
