The weather first thing in the morning looked anything' but promising, there being every appearance of a Btorm from the south-east, but about ten o'clock the sun showed up a bit, and a more splendid day for the sport could not have been wished for. By the time the first race started (which was an hour behind time) the attendance was fully equal, if not greater, to the first day. The various booths again did a fair business, and the usual number of sweeps and beta were indulged in. The arrangements were again very complete,andoxcept forthewant of punctuality, gave general satisfaction, The totalisator did a good business, upwards of £BOO being passed through. There was not the slightest appearance of drunkenness, and the police had nothing whatever to do. The racing all through the day was really-fine, the finishes good, and every horse ridden right out. They were sent away to a good start, Forest King getting rather the best of it, Scrutineer and Stag then went to the frout, and took the first hurdle together, the others just behind. The fifth hurdle was taken by Scrutineer, Stag, and Touch-and-Go almost simultaneously, Kohai being about three lengths off, making up lost ground. The sixth hurdle was raced to in the same order, Touch-and-Go gaining a good length in the jump. Coming into the straight Scrutineer passed -Touch-and-Go, Stag being close up, and Kohai gaining ground at every stride. The last hurdle was negotiated by Scrutineer first, Stag and Kohai taking it together, Touch-and-Go being a length ofi. Scrutineer won by about a length, Stag beating Kohai by a head for second place. Time—3 min. 10£ sees. There were L 75 in the totalisator, 13 being on the winner. The Hack Race for Mr R. R; Armstrong's lady's gold mounted white whalebone whip (| mile, welter weights) produced a field of seven, the winner turning up in Mr H. Tancred's Matipo (ridden by Mr N. Grace).
