" In the Chamber of Deputies to-day M. Freycinet, the Premier and Foreign Minister, made a statement relative to the future policy of the Government in Egypt. He stated that the ooncert of the European Powers which now existed would minimise the danger of armed intervention in the affairs of Egypt, and the ControllerGeneral, M. de Blignieres, had been instructed to maintain-French preponderance in that oountry. The negotiations for renewing the Anglo-French commercial treaty haying virtually collapsed, Mr Tirard, Minister of Commerce, today introduced in the Chamber of deputies a Bill providing that English goods should receive " most favored nation" treatment. The produce of British Colonies is not included in the Bill, but will remain on the general tariff.
