KURUPUNI SUNDAY SCHOOL PICNIC.

Thb first annual picnic in connection with this Bchool was held y est erday in a paddock kindly lent for the occasion by Mr Tinsley. An arch of evergreens was erected over the gateway with the word "Welcome," painted by Master John Pybue. Shortly alter five 'o'clock about 70" children were seated on the ground in four rows, and had.tea and cake Berved to thern by Mr and Mrs Arnold and others, and'the way the little ones went for the good things.provided was a treat to see, After the'; youngsters had been fully providod'for, about 50 parents and friends Rat down to tables beautifully laid and decorated, and attended by Mesdameß Matthews, Witt, Danielle, France, and Pybus, Miss Hildred greatly assisting, These ladies deserve the greatest praise for the manner in which everything was arranged, and they did everything in their power to make everyone feel at home, Full justice 1 having been done to the edibles, all sorts of games, were indulged in by young and old, rounders being a great feature, The committee went to great trouble to provide' swings for the little" ones, who appeared to thoroughly "enjoy themselves. The whole affair can, be pronounced a great: success, and the committee are to be congratulated on the manner in which the first annual picnio in connection with their school was carried out, and it is only reasonable -,to anticipate that the school will ■ steadily progress under their able and painstaking management.
