MASTERTON HIGHWAY BOARD.

The Board met on Saturday last, Present —Meßßrs 3uchanan (ohairman), Chamberlain, Vallanoe, and Meredith. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed,

The following correspondence was read: Letter from Mr Miller, and Mr Wakeman, reread tohis property.--From Mr Yallance, re deviation of road at junotion of Wainuioru and Taueru road, requesting that a gate be erected and maintained by the Board.—From Mr MoKay, re terms upon which he will grant a road through Mb property to MrDonovan's land. Eesolved. that the Board would consider the letter and decide upon the reply at next Board meeting,—From Town Olerk, re impounding fees.—From , Clerk to the East County Counoil, re distribution ot £BOO county Bubsidyi It was resolved that as the Masterton Highway Board has already expended '£sl2 2s on deviations, main Cashpoint road near Kaumingi, and a further sum nf £385 8s 8d on Wainuioru to Flat Point road, they would therefore request the East County Council to divide the Board's share of the 1800 vote between these two lines of road They would also point out that the Blairlogie road will soon be in need of repairs, and having no funds to meet them would request tho Council to make provision for them before taking the road over,—From East County Council, re expenditure of vote of mOO. It was decided that permission be given to Mr Yallance to erect gate applied for. A week's leave of absence was granted to the roadman in No. 2 Ward. - Messrs Holmes and Burnett waited on the Board re road leading from Mr Burnett's mill towards Masterton, requesting that the Board form and metal this section, the settlers contributing £ls and Eufficieut timber to construct culverts. Eesolved—That the roadman of No. 3 Ward see to repairs on Matahiwi road,— That the engineer measure up and give estimate of cost of road from Messrs Burnett and Yule's'mill and request that Mersra Holmes and Burnett be asked to call at next meeting.

Mr Cox wailed on the Board re his road, Eesolved that the engineer inspect and report at earliest convenience, Mr Wrieley having waited on the Board it was decided to write to 'Mr McLachlin to attend with Mr Wrigley at the next meeting. Messrs \\, Cnckburnand Exel waited on the Board ro road from Makora stream to Wickenden'a corner. Resolved—That the Olerk write to Mr Exel re the decision come to by the Board; and that the Board write to Mr Cockburn stating that they accept the terms offered by him for alteration of ford at Ruamahurtga, and hope he will lose no time in erecting a fence on the line agreed to. Mr Fergusson waited on the Board with a letter from. Mr Moure, asking for a contribution towaads improviug the line of road to his property,

Eesolved—That Mr Yallance be interviewed, and a decision communicated to Mr Fergusson at next meeting,
