WAIRARAP EAST COUNTY.

A MEETING of the Council was held yestterday, Present-Messrs Buothnm (Chair- ), Smith, Bunny, and Mackay, j.Jie minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed.

Messrsßuchanan and Bennett attended, relative to the expenditure of subsidy on the deviations at Kaumiujji, and (hoy were requested to state definitely in what way they proposed to expend the money. The, foil 'iwiua resolutions wero then passed!— Moved by Cr Smith, seconded by (VBunny-Ttat the report <.f the Jttblic Works and Finance Committee be adopted.—That the appointment of ltm>is. trars be le f t in the hands of the Chairman. —That the registration fee lw fixed at Js per head for all dnus employed for stock and rabbit purposes (including cost of collar), and 5s for all other dogs,-That the following places be appointed re»islration offices;— County Council Chambers, Masterton, Highway Board Office, Tinni, and office of Beaistration Officer, Waihenga.—That tenders be invited for the necessary supply »f collars, and that tile Chairman be authorised to accept the same.—That Mr Geo. Smith, ferryman at Wharentna, be informed that after three months from this date his services would not be required, Mr Andrew having obtained a title to the ferry reserve.—'That Mr Andrew be informed that the Council have given the ferryman at Wlmeama three months' notice to quit, and that at the expiration thereof the Council will be xgkd' to 'Cap tint his no.nioee, or make some equitable arrangement for the continuance of the Ferry.—That the Clerk auiirtain what the cost of black 'boards wfli table of fees painted »n them will be, —That a Pound be established at Tinui at the premises of Mr J. The hist Illairlonie debenture has been paid in, and theie is a credit balance on this account of £240 la 4d, against which there is a contract let of £'l27, also engineering churl's. The balance notv available is £ll3 Is Id, £192 6s (Id is in hand to meet intetest due in January last on loan account, Subsidies retained ex Highway Boards amount to £132 8* Some provision should be made for intoresi on loan account to June Ist 1882, inclusive.
