Further particulars are to habdrespecting the Queenstownfire for causing which Waldemann, the baker, in whose'shop it originated, is now in oustody. He owned a cottage in the outskirts of the town, and the police accompanied by,the agents of the insurance companies', visited this place, surmising that some of the 'goods from the store might have been removed there, asWaldmann had been. h«»rd by his neighbors hard at work all the previous night to the fire. The sergeant and his company arrived at the cottage just in time to prevent-another conflagration; ' They found the doors and Windows well ' secured, but the sergeant however effected an entrance by abaok window finding a sheet of corrugated iron nailed over .the, inside. ( Nothing.was found in this room. The next one entered presented nothing suspicious: but the reflection of a burning candle attracted their'suspicionß in the third room, Upon inspection they saw the flqor saturated with kerosene and tar. A great quanity of matches were scattered all over some brushwood, in the midst of which was fixed a burning candle, Several more 'candles had been stuck together so as to last the desired time,..
