" Wall nigh 'bout a week, I reckon." " And how much longer will it take 1" " Wall, I 'spects I could finish it tomorrer' but I rekon I won't do it afore Friday.". "Why?"
" Wall, heah am de pint. 'lf I finish it to-raorrev an' git my money, I'll be bound to drop down to Halltown an' bet on a boss race an' lost it all. Ef I wait till Friday, I kin hub de means of gwina inter de circus at Charlestown. I knows my weakness, boss, an' to I'ze gwine to sot heah an' dig a leetle an' sleep a leetle, an' chop off de las' root when I heah de circus ho'ns blowin' on top de red skulehouse hill." ;
