We advocate nothing of the sort, we simply say that the best men should tie chosen irrespective of where they reside. Our opinion ia that a first rate man in Queen St. is likely to be of more value to the town than a third rate man in Kuripum, and on the other hand we would support a first rate man from Kui'ipuni against a second or third/rate man from Queen-st. It is also said that we are always ready to pat the richest men on the back. We are quite willing to leave such a silly charge as this unanswered. The wealthiest bur°ess in the town 13 Mr A. W. Renal!. We scarcely think that he will accuse us of patting him on the back. beßt fitted to promote the welfare of the locality for which they are to be elected, and m.tlie present contest, we maintain that Messrs Gaselberg, Perry, and Chamerlaua, are the best men to give the town a lift,
