Thanks to the beneficent efforts of many of tho reaident ladies a most substantial and elegant supper was laid out on the platform, to which those present did full justice to about midnight, after which dancing was continued, and did not break up until about 5 a.m. on Tuesday morning. We have to compliment the band on tho playing and. the-excellence of their arrangements, and trust thai! the Soiree may, as we believe will prove to bo the case, substantially augment their funds.
~ With the exception of one or two picnics there was nothing stirring in Carterton on Monday, mid so as good folks on pleasure bent had to go. fur a-n'eld, the. township was a veritable dosoited village until dusk began to full.
