Stairs are also being made from the lower camp (1 and 6 companies) to Fort Pavihaka; a fine mess whare, 140 ft long, is being erected on the side of the bill for Nos. 3 and 4 companies, and the camp is assuming a shipshape form. Some men are told off every day for road work, and others for the Camp fatigues. Major Goring is having a houso built here, and it is expected to be ultimately his particular station. There is a whisper abroad that Major Tuke and No. 4 Company will be sent to the East Coast.
