CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS.
(To the Editor Wairakafa Daily.
Sir,—As Christmas Day falls on Sunday this year, there will be practically lm'tone holiday, unless arrangements can be made for a suspension of business on the preceding Saturday or the following Tuesday. Might I through the medium of your valuable paper, suggest the observance of Saturday, 24th December, as a public holiday ? A requisition could he presented to His Worship the Mayor at the next Council meeting, asking him to proclaim that day. a holiday. If this were acceded to, it would give employes and others a chance of spending the festive season witli their friends in other parts of the colony, and would'affordopportunities for rest and change for which everyone would be grateful, I trust that this matter' will receive'the kind consideration of all who have influence. lam,'&c., v •: , v -Eimo?Kß.
