FEATHERSTON HIGHWAY BOARD.

The above Board met on Saturday last. Present: Messrs Donald (Chairman); Mathews, Jackson, Riddiford, Martin, Bidwell, and MeDmigall. The Minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. (3) From Telegraph Department complying with the Board's request to place telegraph poles,close to fencing. (4) From. Survey Department forwarding copy of lithographed map. And (5) From John Wall asking for repairs of road. The outgoing correspondence was also read. Resolved, That the Rabbit Inspector be informed that the Roll of the District is at Ins disposal at the Featherston office during reasonable office hornsResolved, That Mr Wall's letter be referred to Mr Jackson, as Warden for No. 1 Wird. In reference to Mr Pharazyn's letter, Mr Riddiford, the .Warden for No. 7, undertook to traverse the country with the Engineer, and report on • the most convenient route at next meoting. The following tenders were then opened : For the work at Pigeon Bush, No, 2 Ward-H. Burgess, 153, 11, Hodder, 16s, Tait rind Bro., £1 per chain, For the work at Western Lake—H, Burgers, 19s Gd per chain. Resolved, That H, Burgess' tender at IBs per chain for the work at Pigeon Bush be accepted, but "that fresh tenders be called for the work at Western Lake, A letter from Mr Hodder complaining about ranger was read. Resolved, That the Board is not called upon to interfere in the .matter referred toby Mr Hodder's letter. Mr Burgess modified his tender for the Western Cake work to 18s per chain, and the tender was accepted. Mr Martin wished to hare about 20 cl ains metalled on Wharekaka Road, Mr McDougall wished to have about. 40 chains of Whangamoana Road metalled, also asked that permission he granted to Mr J. P. Russell to erect a gate in the fence across the road to the Lower Ferry, Permission granted. He also wished to have about 12 chains of roadway formed near the gate. Mr Bidwill was granted permission to retain the ga'es through his property. Resolved, That tho Clerk be instructed to inform the Masterton Highway Board that this Board will undertake to survey such portion of the Tupurupuru-Pahaua Line as leads through their Fealtlerston District. The Board then adjourned.
