Mr J. Yile recently made direct inquiry through a frieud at Kaikonra with a view to ascertain the value of ferrets in dealing with the rabbit nuisance. Ho has placed at our disposal the following letter, winch confirms the opinion we have previously expressed on this question. The letter is as follows .—Kaikonra Flour Mill, Nov 5, 1881.—Mr J. Vile.-Dear Sir,—My brother is managing a property for us now in Canterbury, and asked me to answer your letter. We all look on the ferret hero as the salvation of the district. I have never hoard a farmer regret bis being loosed here. I may state that 20s each, and sometimes more, is freely offered for them by people who want them for setting free on their properties. I bavo not heard of anyone ever fearing stock—ns liunbs, for instancebeing hurt by them, and as yet I may say that all are agreed that for holding the rabbits m check nothing has ever succeeded like the ferret. At any time I shall be very glad to answer any questions I can. Yours, &c, J. Athemtan Parsons.
