One ot the most important Colonial Indus, tries, and one which is attracting a considerable amount of public interest at the present moment, is the manufacture of oar chief product—-wool—into the various fabrics for which it is adapted, at our .own factories, insteading of sending the raw'rnaterial to England for that purpose. Following the inauguration of this industry comes naturally the manufacture into marketable form of the product of the woollen mills. This was first undertaken by Messrs Hulkmtdn Bros., who commeioed business in 1873, and manufactured CMhing, Ac, from Colonial material, At first they employed about 60 hands, and their business was a wholesale one. Subsequently it was changed into retail, and now branches have been established all over New Zealand, at each of which single garmints can be obtained at wMtsalt price, and such is the popularity of the goods, through the first-class work put into them, and the superior nature of colonial material, that the demand is dailyincreasing, and. the firm now employs nearly IQOO hands I The .Wellington Branch ib managed by Mr J. Gallie, on Lambton Quay, where an extensive and well-assorted stock is 'kept of: Clothing,Hats,' Shirts, Shawls, Blankets, Hose, Woollen Yarns/Ac., and, as-in other liancbes, a single garmenttosold at wholesale price. Those inclined to -support Colonial Industry on its merits should call and judge the articles from Any standard, uiid ©onyjetion as to their superiority .it certain/ vf <r.^.'v'- ::
