INJURED INNOCENCE.
There is an old story that a dealer in ready-made clothing was once zealously endeavoring to persuade a customer that a coat fitted him like the paper on the wall—that its cut' was the perfection of fashionable elegance, and its cloth the best product of foreign looms. The customer, smiling a suspicious odour, put his nose to' the garment, and exclaimed: " I can't wear this coat! It smells ao dreadfully!," "My friend," replied the dealer, with the winning eagerness of injured innocence, "it is not the coat that smells—it is me."
