FEATHERSTON VOLUNTEERS.

(To the Editor Wadurapa Daily.) Sir,—The meeting held at the Odd Fellows 'Hill, Featherston, on Saturday last shows clearly the interest taken in the Volunteer movement by the residents, audit is to be hoped that nothing will occur to mar the unanimity existing at present, but, at the same time, I think Hie Committee have been far too hasty in the selecting of officers, proposing their names, bringing them before the meeting, and carrying them without giving the members a chance of proposing any one else—the whole thing was evidently cut and dried beforehand. The gentlemen chosen as officers may be-and, no doubt, they are—the right men in the right place, still the members, and not the committee, should have chosen their ofecers-and by ballot. This sort of off-handed style may do very well on Parliamentary Committee, but it will riot do in all cases; and I doubt very much if. it will in this. It aeemßas if there was already a martinet amongst them, whose word .is, law-something in thiß-style " I have Bpokeh j let no ono dare to Bpcak';"if so, let him remember,' There's a chiel amang ye taking notes, and faith he'll print it,'" ■'■■■. , '•<'..'.■' EcqeHoMO,; ljfth Nov«mb9r, 1881; ' ;
