MASTERTON-OPAKI JOCKEY CLUB.
A MEETiNO of the stewards was held on: Saturday evening. Present—Messrs P. Gray (president), J. lorns (soqretary;, McLachlan, Harding, Elkins, E. Chamberlain, Cave. The minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed, the committee appointed to inspect tho course reported that the track was -in a very bad condition, and recommended shifting the poles to new grdund about nine feet out: wards all round, the extra distance thus caused to be ineasured when the poles are shifted. The recommendation was adopted, i'he same committee' (Messrs' Harding, McLachlan, and Gray) were requested to carry out the necessary improvements and alterations.
The secretary reported that Mr W. 0. piliams had consented to accept the oMce of timekeeper. A letter was wad. typm Mr G. T. poker offering to advertise the sale of the Cjub/s privileges on his tickets for admission to the Wfirarapa Jockey Club's spring meeting, he having bought the gates of that rneeting. The secretary was instructed to thank Mr Coker for' his offer, and to state that the Club did not 'hmk it necesi sarg to advertise in the way proposed.
The secretary was instructed to write to the Colonial Secretary for a permit to qse a totalisatov on the oourse, if application were made from tbs proprietor of one, The following gentlemen were elected members of the Club:- R.' Fitton, R, Urwick, E. Hare, and F. W. Hadfield. The privileges were instructed to be sold on November 36, and the programme to : bo published a fortnight before the races, ' ,'
Messrs Maoara, Cave, and the; ssovetavy were appointed to canvas for subaerip tions, ard the meeting waß adjourned.
