A heavy gale on the coast placed the brig Wild Wave in extremity, and her pumps were kept going for 66 hours. A seaman named Charles Kennedy was washed overboard and drowned. The Captain and mato were both swept overboard, but both were saved by a returning wave.
The ship Omba is wrecked. Fears also are entertained that other vessels have met with the same fate, as the beach is strewn with wreokage.
