MoGßEqen, in another oolumn, again offers his services to the ratepayers of the Masterton ridin? of the Wairarapa West County, He has, during his past terra of office, rendered valuable services' in promoting the settlement of waste lands in tho County by the construction of roads and bridges, Hip re-election nwy he considered certain, as he is too useful and valuable a'publio servant to be dispensed with. Who, however, should fill Mr F. G, Moore's place ? It is not easy to find a fit successor to one who has been so gtnerally respected bath privately and publicly, as Mr Mooke has. Mr Renall, who has been nominated, is not fitted to fill his shoen, Mr Vim, who_ is a much more useful, though a less noisy man than Mr Eenall, might do wore' it not that he is so closely connected with Borough Council" work, and cannot do justice to both. Mr Thomas Chamberiain, the third candidate, is free from the ties which bird Mr Vile, and > an old Bottler, who has the interests of the district at heart, and who will, we believe, make a very good Councillor. If Mr Vile were to resign his connection with the Borough .Council in order to enter upon a county career we might hesitate as to whioh candidate ought to be supported, but unless he did this we certainly shall advocate the return of Messrs McGregor and Thomas Chamberlain,
